Ishizuka Glass has a truly impressive history that started in 1919 in what is now Kani City in the Gifu Prefecture in Japan. The company’s founder, Iwasaburo Ishizuka, first created translucent vidro sculptures for the local feudal lord.
Ishizuka refined its methods and techniques and expanded through the 20th and 21st centuries. The company pioneered the industrial-scale production of fully transparent glass in Japan and used this technology to make high-quality tableware since 1961.
