A family of French cutlers since 1920.

Jean Dubost was founded in 1920 by Pierre Dubost and Marcelle Colas-Pradel in Viscomtat, a small mountain town near Thiers, the capital of French cutlery. It began with small runs of professional kitchen knives. Today the company is led by Alexandre Dubost, the fourth generation of the family.

The same gestures are still performed with precision in the workshop: assemble, shape, polish, sharpen. From selecting the steel to the final finish, glossy, matt or satin, every stage of production is tracked and checked. Handles in wood, Micarta, acrylic or ABS each require their own expertise, guided by one simple principle: a job well done.

Jean Dubost is one of the great names of Laguiole. In 1987 the company produced the first non-folding Laguiole table flatware made in France, followed by the first all-stainless Laguiole flatware in 2004. Alongside Laguiole, the range covers steak and table knives, kitchen knives, flatware and Le Thiers knives, a design the company has championed as a member of the Confrérie du Couteau Le Thiers since 1996.

Heritage goes hand in hand with responsibility. Jean Dubost was the first French cutler to be PEFC-certified in 2009, uses oak from sustainably managed forests and has offered plant-based bioplastic handles since 2008. Recognised as an EPV Living Heritage Company since 2012 and awarded an EcoVadis Gold Medal, the brand lives by its motto: «Let's cut for a better world
